looks like fun, how do I join?

Although joining Phoenix is a fairly easy process, we still like to know a bit about you. Simply complete and submit our online enquiry form and we will get back to you to discuss your enquiry.

do you have rules of conduct?

Yes. The Phoenix Slot Car Group Melbourne takes great pride in promoting a fun and relaxed atmosphere and therefore prefer members wishing to join to accept and abide by this rule. We won't accept any member being abused or made to feel uncomfortable and therefore any member caught doing so will be warned and if they continue will be asked to leave the club and WILL NOT have their membership renewed.

how much does it cost to become a member?

There's no actual Membership Fee as such, but we do have yearly Registration / Donation fee which is very affordable. Once paid for in full, you are able to participate in all normal race events. ( Does not include Trophy events )

what cars do you race?

Phoenix race both 1:32 and 1:24 Scale slot cars. We race all types of categories from the old retro cars to the more popular car classes. Slot Car brands raced include: Scalextric, SCX, FLY, Carrera,, Slotter, Revell, MRRC, Ninco, Vanquish and even Scratch Built models.

how often do you race?

1/32 scale events are held every fortnight on a Saturday afternoon or evening. ( track owners discretion ). Starting times can vary between afternoon or evening and generally include a BBQ or Pizza. These events normally don’t require much setup, however if non track owners wish to step forward and select the classes and run the event, then they are more than welcome to do so.

For those interested, we also race 1:24 scale slot cars with Plafit / MJK and Scale Auto chassis on either Friday or Saturday nights and are held on the alternate weekends to 1/32 scale racing.

For the old timers, we also race Scalextric Retro cars including: 1970-76 F1, 1977-79 F1, Small & Large Sedans, Le-Mans and Sports cars. This us usually run every Wednesday fortnight.

can I have a go before I join?

Yes, we allow new members to participate at the cost of $2.00 per attendance. ( plus $5.00 if we have a BBQ ). After you have attended 3 race events you will be asked to join and pay a small Registration / Donation Fee.

Note: The club reserves the right to decline your application to become a member if we feel that you do not promote our philosophy as outlined in our Code of Conduct.

what types of events do you run?

We run a variety of racing events such as: Team Racing, Fuel Racing, Timed Racing, Crash'n Burn and even just plain old Lap Times. No matter the event, we guarantee that you will have fun. Click here for more information.

do you hold classes to help beginners?

Yes, quite often we will hold Fix-it nights in order to assist those members wishing to learn the tips and techniques on tuning their cars.

What type of tracks do you have and can I see them?

We run proper Routed Wooden Tracks as opposed to the old click together tracks. This prevents warps and twists resulting in much smoother and better racing. Click here to view some of our tracks.
